Long before the first spring flower blooms, the bulb beneath the soil has already completed some of its most critical work—in the dark, in the cold, and unseen.
In the same way, some of God's most important work in our lives happens during hidden seasons. What looks like winter may actually be preparation for your most fruitful spring.
Do not despise the hidden season. God is developing roots before He reveals fruit.
Scripture: “The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.” — Psalm 85:12
Cybercrime and internet fraud, commonly referred to in Nigeria as “Yahoo Yahoo” or “G-Fraud,” have become serious concerns—not only because of the financial and emotional harm they cause, but also because of the questions they raise about integrity, values, and the direction of a generation.
Young men and women, created with extraordinary gifts and Kingdom purpose, can be drawn towards the glamour of quick and dishonest wealth. What may initially appear to be an opportunity for financial success can instead lead to deception, exploitation, damaged relationships, legal consequences, and the loss of purpose.
This is more than a social challenge; it calls for a spiritual and moral response.
Beyond individual victims, cybercrime can weaken trust in businesses and institutions, damage Nigeria's international reputation, and affect communities and families. The Church has a responsibility not only to speak against dishonesty, but also to pray, disciple, equip, and create pathways through which young people can discover purpose and pursue honest, productive lives.
1. Pray for Conviction and the Fear of God
Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit would reach communities where cybercrime and dishonest wealth have become normalised. Ask God to restore the fear of the Lord as the foundation of wisdom, integrity, and righteous living.
Scripture: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” — Proverbs 1:7
2. Pray for Young People Trapped in Internet Fraud
Ask God to rescue young people caught in the cycle of internet fraud. Pray that they would encounter the living God, discover their true identity and purpose, and realise that their gifts can be used for something greater than temporary wealth.
Scripture: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” — 1 John 3:1
3. Pray for Parents and Families
Pray for the parents and families of young people involved in fraud. Ask God to give them wisdom to respond, courage to confront wrongdoing, and compassionate strength to stand firmly for righteousness within their homes.
Scripture: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.” — Deuteronomy 6:6–7
4. Pray for Law Enforcement and Anti-Fraud Agencies
Ask the Lord to empower Nigerian law enforcement agencies, including the EFCC and other cybercrime agencies, with wisdom, adequate resources, and personnel committed to integrity and justice. Pray for effective investigation, prosecution, prevention, and deterrence of cybercrime.
Scripture: “By justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.” — Proverbs 29:4
5. Pray for Kingdom Pathways for Young People
Pray that the Church and Christian organisations will develop practical and economically viable pathways for young people through entrepreneurship training, skills development, mentorship, innovation, and dignified employment opportunities.
Ask God to raise initiatives that make honest work not only possible, but attractive and rewarding, helping young people recognise the value of diligence, excellence, and integrity.
Scripture: “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” — Proverbs 10:4
The Lord says:
“Your gifts are not for corruption but for purpose. I am calling you out of confusion into your true assignment, and I will establish you in a life of integrity and blessing without sorrow.”
You will not waste the gifts God has placed within you. Your creativity, intelligence, skills, and opportunities will become instruments of purpose rather than corruption.
You will rise through integrity, diligence, wisdom, and excellence. Your success will not be built on the exploitation of others, but on the blessing of God and the fruit of honest labour.
You are called for purpose. You are called for excellence. You are called to be a light.
